What is Salt Therapy?

Salt Therapy is a relief treatment for people suffering with respiratory, skin and allergic conditions.  It is 100% natural, drug free and non invasive – no inhalers, no masks and no side effects.

What does a visit involve?

The therapy is so new to most people in Ireland, that it is difficult for people to imagine what to expect when they come to our centres.   What we do is recreate the air environment and look of a salt mine.  Visitors to our centre spend 45 mins in the saltroom, where there is low level mood lighting and music, which creates a deeply relaxing experience.  During the treatment, our halogenerator machines grind and pump very fine microparticles of salt into the air in the room, which can then be inhaled deeply into the airways.  The room is maintained at a comfortable temperature, and the air in the room is dry, so you do not need to wear any special clothing – casual clothes are fine.  We will provide you with protective covers for your shoes, and there is a blanket on each chair that you can use to cover yourself. .

What conditions can it help?

Salt Therapy has been shown to be effective in helping to relieve the symptoms of a wide variety of conditions.  Chief among them are;

  • Asthma
  • Sinusitis
  • Hayfever
  • Allergic Rhinitis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • COPD
  • Bronchitis
  • Croup
  • Eczema

How does it work?

The basis of the treatment lies in cleansing the respiratory tract.  Sodium chloride (salt) works to fluidise or improve the flow of mucus in the airways, thus helping mucus clearance, reducing inflammation and boosting the body’s immune response.  Your body will be better able to expel the allergens and pathogens which can cause and trigger adverse reactions in the airways.

How Salt Therapy can help you;

  • Strengthens immune system
  • Clears & cleanses airways
  • Helps mucus clearance
  • Relieves inflammation
  • Improves quality of life
  • Improves sleep
  • Cleanses skin

Salt therapy is not curative, but an effective way to relieve symptoms of many respiratory, skin and allergic conditions.
